Meet the owner, Jane Standers
Jane began her career in upholstery during her high school years, gaining practical experience at Ardenne Upholsterers during the June and December holidays. Under the mentorship of Mr Roger Dolphire, she developed a strong passion for the craft and, after matriculation, continued working at Ardenne Upholsterers to refine her skills.
From 2006 to 2007, Jane served as an assistant at Nuwehoop School for the Hearing Impaired, where she taught students the fundamental principles of upholstery. This role not only strengthened her technical expertise but also enhanced her ability to train and inspire others.
In 2007, Jane took the entrepreneurial step of establishing her own upholstery business, Vallei Upholsterers. To further support her venture, she pursued part-time studies in Business Management at the University of Stellenbosch Business School from 2009 to 2010, equipping herself with essential knowledge in entrepreneurship, operations, and strategic planning.
